"stentorian." Journal of Latin American Poetry: A quick reading of bird flight
By: César Pineda Quilca
Peruvian literary journals have been, are and will be always there until the silver, the saintly patience, and the desire to do and publish it, are gone. Example shows, we have: Toe Reviewer, Garlic and Sapphires, Lhymen, Dis-italic, and Magnetic Telluric, Daedalus, Vortex, Kaleidoscope, Villa Literary Knots and Mazes, Yachachisun, Sun Blind, dialogism, Martin, The Cardboard House , Revista Peruana de Literature Sieteculebras, Angels and Demons, Sietevientos, Arteidea, Pelican, Hispanic Magazine of Literature, The Golden Fish, just to name a few.
In a difficult environment and closed like ours, where everything costs (especially when published) and no one dares to take a sun when it comes to culture, people do not suddenly appear as strings, ready to fly and dream. Poor individuals that fill the heads of innumerable debts sometimes himself. Foreign subjects who are creating things that you do not even dare imagine. So little by little, as if they were gods, archetypes of possible worlds built until the reality hits ... and they survive in their own way, of course is.
But rather talk about "raucous" (No. 1 - June 2009) magazine that brings us here today and brings us together and makes its early appearance in these parts, immersed in this beautiful "Casa de Carton" making a special way: promoting, disseminating and giving us sick poetry, pure poetry. And this magazine is unique in that house within "its being" literary and expressive vein of various Latin American poets.
"stentorian" is a magazine well done, neat, unaware of errors, structurally well designed, a publication opening steps and breaks boundaries, perhaps because their vision is set to be beyond Peru, limited to a single drive, Latin America. Ie, directs its mission "brothers" over a wide area that is "word."
At the heart of this text we find many voices, the recording of several "poetic", both renowned poets as young hopefuls who will nourish and enhance our spirit. As well as the section on interview (the poet Carlos López Degregori), essay ("The humanity of Vallejo) and likeness (Benedetti Style) and a full range of existing poems.
A clear sign of faith in literature, in creation itself, that love in their madness they have for the poetry editors of this magazine sets: Marialicia Atencio (Venezuela) and Joe Montesinos (Peru), parents responsible for this creature came into the world with the sole intention of promoting creativity and make "poetry remains fresh and alive more than ever."
reason enough to wish to "raucous", long life, for the adventure of launching into space with this their 1st number, a path marked with poetry. And why not say that We continue catching the eye with the intense search that generated the proposal, that "beautiful art of painting ideas with words," and whether it is better, with more and new numbers yet.
Health poets.
